The energy at Norris Square Senior Center was electric as more than 150 older adults gathered for Concilio’s Annual Senior Luncheon 2025, presented by Highmark Wholecare. This much-anticipated event brought together music, culture, and heartfelt connection to celebrate the strength, resilience, and vibrant spirit of Philadelphia’s senior community.
From the moment guests arrived, they were greeted with beautifully decorated tables, upbeat Latin rhythms, and the unmistakable warmth of shared celebration. The afternoon unfolded with delicious catered food, dancing, raffles, and surprises—all delivered in true Concilio fashion, with cultural pride and community care at the heart of every detail.

The event featured heartfelt remarks from Grace Castro, Concilio’s Marketing Manager, who emphasized the importance of honoring and uplifting seniors in the community. Jhaisa Castillo, representing Highmark Wholecare, shared encouraging words on the critical role of health and wellness resources for older adults. A representative from GOYA also spoke warmly about their pride in supporting the event and celebrating Philadelphia’s vibrant Latino senior population.
Leadership from Norris Square Senior Center, Kate Baumgardner and Wanda Mercado, offered inspiring reflections on the power of community and the joy of coming together to celebrate the elders who have shaped the neighborhood.
The dance floor stayed packed as guests moved to the beat of salsa, merengue, and classic favorites—showing that joy knows no age limit. The atmosphere was one of shared happiness, mutual respect, and pure celebration.
A highlight of the afternoon was the crowning of the 2025 Senior King and Queen, who were honored with cheers, applause, and beautifully curated gift baskets provided by GOYA. The coronation served as a symbol of appreciation for the generations who paved the way and continue to inspire those around them.
Thanks to the generosity of event sponsors, the luncheon was offered completely free of charge, ensuring that all who wished to attend could enjoy a day of connection and celebration. Proceeds raised during the event support Concilio’s Utility Assistance Program, which helps seniors manage essential heating and utility costs during the coldest months of the year—offering critical relief and peace of mind.
