Concilio Hosts Annual Kick Off Mixer

On Wednesday, March 5th, Concilio hosted its highly anticipated Annual Kickoff Mixer at City Winery, welcoming over 100 community partners, supporters, and advocates for an evening of celebration, reflection, and forward-looking momentum.

The event served as both a heartfelt thank-you and a strategic moment to share exciting updates about Concilio’s core programs and upcoming initiatives. Guests enjoyed an atmosphere of connection and celebration as they learned more about Concilio’s mission to strengthen families, uplift communities, and preserve Latino culture across Philadelphia.

Serving as the evening’s MC was Ariana Datil, who helped set a vibrant and engaging tone for the night. The event also featured remarks from Priscilla Jimenez, President of Concilio’s Board of Directors, who spoke passionately about the organization’s growth, leadership, and enduring commitment to community impact.

The program highlighted Concilio’s two flagship initiatives: Family Social Services (FSS) and Community Umbrella Agency 3 (CUA3). These programs are at the heart of Concilio’s mission to provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive services to Philadelphia’s most vulnerable children and families.

Lesly Jimenez, Assistant Director of FSS, shared encouraging updates on the division’s growth — including increases in family placements and sustained support for foster and adoptive families. Nicole Smith, Assistant Director of CUA3, emphasized her team’s dedication to serving families in the 24th and 26th Police Districts, helping to keep children safe, stable, and connected to community.

“We are proud of the strides our teams have made in strengthening families and building trust in the communities we serve,” said Adonis Banegas, CEO of Concilio. “Tonight is about honoring the hard work behind the scenes — and looking ahead to what’s possible.”

A highlight of the evening was the announcement of the return of Concilio’s signature cultural events in 2025, including Concilio’s Annual Hispanic Fiesta, the Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade, and more. These beloved events are vital celebrations of Latino pride and heritage and are set to once again unite thousands across Philadelphia.

Another exciting milestone was the unveiling of Concilio’s new headquarters: The Chocolate Factory — a historic building in the Bridesburg section of Philadelphia. Once transformed, the building will house both FSS and CUA3, expanding Concilio’s reach and capacity to serve families in one accessible, welcoming space.

“The Chocolate Factory will be a place where families find support, where children are protected, and where our community continues to grow stronger,” said Banegas. “It’s a symbol of transformation — turning something sweet from the past into something powerful for the future.”

In addition to programmatic and operational updates, the night spotlighted Concilio’s Scholarship Fund, which helps local youth pursue higher education. Dr. Rashidah Abdul-Khabeer delivered heartfelt remarks about the importance of education and the life-changing impact of the fund, which has supported dozens of students in achieving their college dreams.

Thanks to the generosity of those in attendance, the evening raised more than $3,000 for the Scholarship Fund, setting a strong tone for continued investment in the next generation of leaders.

The 2025 Kickoff Mixer captured the spirit of what lies ahead for Concilio: a year filled with meaningful service, cultural celebration, and deepened community impact. Guests left inspired and united around a shared goal — building a stronger, more vibrant future for all Philadelphians.
