On Thursday, January 4th, 2024, Concilio’s Annual Three Kings Day was held at Concilio’s Ballroom to help kick off the new year and the start of Concilio’s highly anticipated Cultural Event Series.
Held in the days leading up to Three Kings Day, Concilio observed the culturally important holiday allowing families to take part in the festivities while learning about the story behind the holiday.
This beloved family affair had plenty of attractions for families to engage in. From the moment families pulled into Concilio’s parking lot, they were greeted by the jeeps from Los Rumberos Jeep Club. Families then had the chance to stop by Keystone’s Mobile Unit to learn more about their work for the community.
Concilio’s Ballroom was transformed into a children’s holiday magic land as there were many different activities to take part in. John Sprange from Caricatoonz treated those interested to a caricature self-portrait. Our generous sponsor, Community Charter Academy, created a one-stop-shop attraction for children to allow them to play video games and color while giving them a grab bag full of activities to do at home.
We were also joined by the Phillies’ very own Phanatic who treated the crowd to a performance full of antics and posed for several pictures with starstruck families.
Even more importantly, the Three Kings visited Concilio and greeted the children in attendance.
Once the event started, author Shelia Colón-Bagley treated us to a read-aloud of her debut book, La Noche Before Three Kings. The audience interacted with her and the story after learning more about her journey to becoming an author. A representative from Julia de Burgos Bookstore was generous enough to be onsite, allowing families to purchase this best-selling book.
The toy store was then opened allowing children and their families to pick out a new toy to bring home. Toys ranged from board games to dolls to science kits, truly allowing them the opportunity to pick a toy of their interest.
Over 200 families and over 250 children were welcomed to Concilio to take part in Concilio’s Annual Three Kings Day.
The event was a great way for families to come together and celebrate the start of 2024 and the significance of Three Kings Day.
Children left with smiles on their faces, enthusiastic about their new toy and grateful for the activities that just took place.
Concilio’s Annual Three Kings Day wouldn’t have been a success without the help and support of our sponsors and partners. Including the gracious support from our sponsor, Community Charter Academy. Alongside the generous donations of toys from our partners at Los Rumberos, Keystone, and Community First Fund. We would also like to thank Boost Mobile, the office of State Representative Danilo Burgos, the Phillies Organization, and Paragon for their ongoing support of the work that we do.
