Tobacco use is a significant health problem for many communities, especially for youth and for the Latino community. Through a partnership with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Concilio operates two programs designed to reduce the use of tobacco among youth and Latino adults. The Latino Cessation Program offers free quit smoking classes in Spanish for Philadelphia residents.
The classes include free Nicotine Replacement Therapy and behavioral modification techniques. The Youth Tobacco Control Program is a comprehensive tobacco program targeting all youth in the city of Philadelphia. The youth program includes quit smoking classes for teens, in-school prevention and cessation classes, and an after-school peer prevention program.
Both programs partner with local community organizations, government agencies, schools, and the media to combat the use of tobacco among Latinos and the youth of Philadelphia. |
