INTRODUCTION TO THE ORGANIZATION

CONCILIO
The Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations, Inc. (Concilio), is a non- profit, 501(c)(3) corporation founded in October 1, 1962, by a group of Latino leaders concerned about the multiple problems confronting the Latino community. Corrosive discrimination, lack of Latino participation in government, policy making and service institutions were some of the barriers stifling Latino community development 45 years ago. Latino leaders organized to address and voice these concerns to the local, regional, state and federal government bodies.
Concilio continues to be guided by its mission to ensure that equitable social educational, health, and cultural services and opportunities are available to the community.
